WHAT IS IT?
An annual prize for the college student (HBO) with the best energy transition idea. We mean the best idea for the changeover from the current transitional period, in which we are still dependent on fossil fuels, towards a fully sustainable energy supply. We are asking you to come up with creative ideas for that scenario, feasible in practice, which aim to lower energy demand, promote the use of sustainable energy sources, to reduce CO2 emissions or to increase the efficiency of the use of fossil fuels.
WHY?
First of all, taking part in the GasTerra Transitie Jaarprijs for Energy Transition Ideas will be a valuable experience. In certain cases you can also obtain education credits for participating. It’s also a great networking opportunity. But the most important reason for participating is of course the substantial prize money. You can use this to convert theory into practice working together with your college (HBO school). A total of €100,000 will be paid out (1st price € 50,000, 2nd price € 20,000 and three 3rd price € 10,000). It’s intended that 90% of the prize money will be used for the further development and realisation of the idea. The winning students or teams will receive 10% of the amount themselves.
WHEN?
You have up to 31 December 2009 inclusive to develop and submit your idea. The Annual Prize will be presented on 18 March 2010 during a congress on energy transition.
